In, Biliran, the DOST-Biliran PSTC once again conducted the regular Scholarship Caravan last July 29-31, 2019 around the Province. A total of 891 students were reached for the three-day information campaign held in different schools. The activity is aimed to educate the students who are currently enrolled in Grade 12 about the Science Scholarships intended for those who will be going to college next school year. While college tuition has become free for all state universities and colleges, the DOST gives opportunity to deserving students who want to pursue science and engineering courses special privileges such as monthly stipend, book allowance, uniform allowances among other benefits. They must however pass the DOST-SEI Scholarship examinations.
The DOST is grateful to the support of the DepEd management around the region for issuing Memorandum to the different Divisions and their constituent Districts for allowing the use of the school facilities and letting the students attend the fora.
The DOST-Biliran Scholarship Team is headed by Ms. Maria Catherine G. Maniba, Science Research Specialist II, fully supported by the Provincial S & T Director of DOST-Biliran Dr. Romeo L. Dignos. Also with the group are Ms. Juliet A Aguirre, AA III, Ms. Gracevillalyn Saldo, Project Assistant II, Engr. Jake Corto and Mr. Teddy Abenido, Project Assistant I all from DOST-Biliran PSTC.
