DOST-SEI scholarship for 2020 is now open

The Department of Science and Technology announces the opening of application for the 2020 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship examination which is scheduled on October 20, 2019. DOST Provincial Science and Technology Centers around the country are again busy promoting the program and encouraged graduating Grade 12 students to apply and grab the opportunity to become a scholar of DOST. Deadline of filing the application is set on September 6, 2019.
In, Biliran, the DOST-Biliran PSTC once again conducted the regular Scholarship Caravan last July 29-31, 2019 around the Province. A total of 891 students were reached for the three-day information campaign held in different schools. The activity is aimed to educate the students who are currently enrolled in Grade 12 about the Science Scholarships intended for those who will be going to college next school year. While college tuition has become free for all state universities and colleges, the DOST gives opportunity to deserving students who want to pursue science and engineering courses special privileges such as monthly stipend, book allowance, uniform allowances among other benefits. They must however pass the DOST-SEI Scholarship examinations.

The DOST is grateful to the support of the DepEd management around the region for issuing Memorandum to the different Divisions and their constituent Districts for allowing the use of the school facilities and letting the students attend the fora.


The DOST-Biliran Scholarship Team is headed by Ms. Maria Catherine G. Maniba, Science Research Specialist II, fully supported by the Provincial S & T Director of DOST-Biliran Dr. Romeo L. Dignos. Also with the group are Ms. Juliet A Aguirre, AA III, Ms. Gracevillalyn Saldo, Project Assistant II, Engr. Jake Corto and Mr. Teddy Abenido, Project Assistant I all from DOST-Biliran PSTC.

The caravan started on July 29, 2019 at Teacher's Arena Department of Education Division of Biliran, Brgy. Larrazabal, Naval, Biliran. The morning and afternoon sessions were participated by schools from the District of Biliran, Naval, Almeria and Maripipi. The second day, July 30, 2019 the DOST-Biliran PSTC Team conducted the morning session in Tucdao National High School with participants coming from Kawayan Districts. The afternoon session was conducted in Culaba National High School with participants from Culaba Districts. The last day of the caravan was on July 31, 2019 with the two sessions in the morning session held in Manlabang National High School and the ICT High School of Eastern Biliran both in Caibiran, while the afternoon session was conducted in Cabucgayan National School of Arts and Trades - DepEd with participants coming from schools in Cabucgayan Districts.
