BiPSU-Biliran and DOST launched Ginger and Turmeric project

The BiPSU Biliran campus finally launched the Ginger and Turmeric tea and powder production facility last September 30, 2020 with a training-demo and test run of the equipment acquired through financial support of DOST-8 GIA. 

Members of the Lower Lumbia Vendors Association of Biliran, Biliran were present and conducted hands-on operation of the machine. Howvere, due to observance of health protocols only ten members of the association were able to attend the activity. The group produced 4 in 1 Ginger and Turmeric powder with malunggay and pandan extracts extract and sugar, 

Ma. Catherine G. Maniba, SRS II of DOST-Biliran, represented Dr. Romeo Dignos, Provincial Director of DOST-Biliran, who was attending the Search for Best SETUP adoptor in Region 8. Also with the DOST-Biliran is Ace York Aguilar who is the Project Assistant and responsible in coordinating and assisting the stakeholders in the implementation of GIA projects in Biliran. 


The DOST-Biliran is grateful to the able management of Dr. Vilma Gayrama, the Project Coordinator and the support of Dr. Gerleah Peñaflor, BiPSU-Biliran Campus Director as well as Dr. Victor Cañezo, BiPSU President, in the realization of the project. The facility will serve as production Center for ginger and turmeric tea powder. Further improvement of the facility will make it capable of doing product development, training, and other services for turmeric, ginger, and similar products.

The BiPSU Biliran and the LLVA were equally thankful to the assistance provided by DOST-8 in funding the acquisition of juice extractor, juice evaporator, grinder, and stainless tables used by the facility. BiPSU provided the building and improvement of the facility that houses the equipment.
